Precious Metal Clay: Botanical Jewelry

Taught by Hattie Weselyk
November 13, 2024 9:00 am · 2 hours 30 minutes Hosted by Longwood Gardens

Discover the beauty of nature transformed into silver in this two-session botanical-inspired precious metal clay jewelry class. Using fine silver precious metal clay, students will create one-of-a-kind pendants, earrings, or small jewelry components featuring textures and impressions inspired by leaves, flowers, and natural forms.

During the first class, students will design and sculpt their pieces using precious metal clay. Hattie will provide botanical molds created from real plants, and students are welcome to bring small leaves or flowers to press into the clay for personalized textures and patterns. Pieces will then be kiln fired between sessions.

In the second class, students will learn the finishing techniques that bring their work to life, including filing, drilling, patina application, and polishing their fired silver into wearable jewelry.

No prior experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

Please note: Clay will be ordered one week prior to the start of class, and registration will close at that time to allow for delivery. The cost of the clay is $106.00 for a 15g packet and is nonrefundable once ordered.
