Please join visiting artists Matt & Pam Furches from Gnarly Branch Studios for this one of a kind workshop.
Students will learn basic knife safety and how to use very specific, safe, and efficient cuts to create useful and beautiful implements from local woods. Over the course of the workshop, Matt will also demonstrate how to sharpen and maintain carving tools and care for the finished projects. This is a hands-on class using only hand tools. Students are encouraged to bring a pair of leather lwork gloves, water and snacks. Various local hard and soft wood blanks will be provided. There will be sharp, high-quality Mora knives and hook knives on loan for the class as well as sandpaper and oil for polishing your project.
